Who Should Not Take Zyban?

You should not take Zyban if you:

Are allergic to Zyban, bupropion hydrochloride, or any inactive components used to make Zyban. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
Have a seizure disorder.
Are taking other medications containing bupropion, including Budeprion SR^®, Buproban^®, Budeprion XL^®, Wellbutrin^®, Wellbutrin SR^®, and Wellbutrin XL^®.
Have anorexia or bulimia.
Abruptly stop using alcohol or sedative medications, such as alprazolam (Xanax^®), diazepam (Valium^®), clonazepam (Klonopin^®), lorazepam (Ativan^®), and others.
Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. Some examples of MAOIs include:
- Isocarboxazid (Marplan^®)
- Phenelzine (Nardil^®)
- Rasagiline (Azilect^®)
- Selegiline (Eldepryl^®, Emsam^®, Zelapar^®)
- Tranylcypromine (Parnate^®).
