Tobi Dosage

A liquid medication, Tobi is inhaled using a nebulizer and an air compressor -- this turns the liquid into a mist. There is only one standard dosage of Tobi -- one ampule (300 mg per 5 mL inhaled solution) inhaled twice daily for 28 days. After 28 days of using this medicine, you will take a 28-day break from the medicine and then complete this cycle again.

An Introduction to Dosing With Tobi

There is only one standard recommended dosage of Tobi® (tobramycin inhalation solution), regardless of your age or weight. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Tobi Dosage?

The recommended dose of Tobi is one ampule (300 mg per 5 mL inhaled solution) twice a day, about 12 hours apart, for 28 days. After 28 days, you will take a 28-day break, during which you will not use the medication. This cycle of 28 days using the drug followed by 28 days off the drug should be repeated until your healthcare provider tells you otherwise.
You will use a nebulizer and air compressor to take your Tobi dosage. The nebulizer and air compressor turn the liquid medicine into a mist that can be inhaled into the lungs. You should continue inhaling your dose until all of the medicine is gone from the nebulizer and a mist is no longer being produced. You may hear a sputtering when the dose is complete. It will take approximately 15 minutes to receive your entire dosage.
You healthcare provider will teach you how to use the nebulizer and air compressor. You will need to know how to use and care for these devices to properly take your Tobi dose. You will need to clean the nebulizer and air compressor as instructed. Make sure to ask questions if there is anything about using the nebulizer and air compressor that isn't clear.
