Can Nicotine Gum Cause High Blood Pressure?
Although nicotine gum (Nicorette® Gum) can be an effective medicine for helping people stop smoking, it is not suitable for everyone. For example, you may not be able to use nicotine gum if you have high blood pressure.
Nicotine gum is chewed every one to eight hours for 12 weeks. Because it releases nicotine, this can result in an increase in your heart rate and blood pressure. If you already have high blood pressure, nicotine gum can make it worse. Stop using the gum and contact your healthcare provider if you experience an increase in blood pressure or a fast, irregular, or forcefully beating heart.
