4-Mg Nicotine Gum

If you are looking for an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine to help you stop smoking, you may benefit from using nicotine gum (Nicorette® Gum). To use this product, you will chew a piece of gum every one to eight hours for 12 weeks while slowly decreasing the amount of gum you chew each day. This helps reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

Nicotine gum comes in two strengths: 2 mg and 4 mg. The strength you use will depend on how many cigarettes you smoke each day. For instance, if you smoke at least 25 cigarettes a day, you should use the 4-mg strength of nicotine gum. You should use this same strength throughout the full 12-week period; however, the number of pieces you chew each day will be gradually decreased.
