While most people do not experience any problems with Nicoderm® CQ® (nicotine patch), certain adverse reactions can occur while using this product. Side effects, for example, are possible and include:
- Skin irritation at the patch site
- Sleep problems, including insomnia, nightmares, and vivid dreams
- Headaches
- Increased appetite and weight gain.
In most cases, reactions to this medication tend to be mild and easy to treat. However, contact your healthcare provider right away if you experience more serious problems, such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or a rapid heartbeat.
To help minimize your risk of these and other adverse reactions with Nicoderm CQ, make sure your healthcare provider has a complete list of all medications you are taking, as well as a complete medical history. By providing your healthcare provider with this information, he or she can be sure this is the right medication for you.
