If you want to stop smoking, Nicoderm® CQ® (nicotine patch) can help reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Nicoderm is intended for transdermal use only, which means it should only be applied to the skin. Do not take it by mouth, chew it, swallow it, or use it in any other way than directed. Also, do not use patches that are cut, damaged, or otherwise altered, as it may increase your risk for a nicotine overdose.
Apply one new patch directly to the skin every 24 hours. Place it on any clean, dry, hairless area of your skin. Do not use soaps, lotions, oils, or creams on the area before applying the patch. Choose a new skin area for your next patch; avoid the same area for at least one week.
