Lungs Home > Drug Interactions With Linezolid

Beta Agonist Medications
Taking linezolid with beta agonist medications can cause dangerous side effects, such as severe hypertension (high blood pressure). These medications should only be used together under a healthcare provider's supervision. If you must take these drugs together, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you more closely.

Buspirone
Taking linezolid with buspirone may cause dangerous side effects, such as severe hypertension (high blood pressure) or serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening reaction. If you take these drugs together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely.

Blood Pressure Medications
Combining linezolid with high blood pressure medications can increase your risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). Always check with your healthcare provider before taking such drugs together. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely.

COMT Inhibitor Medications
Taking linezolid with COMT inhibitors may cause dangerous side effects, such as extremely high blood pressure (hypertension) or increased heart rate (tachycardia). If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you closely.

Cough, Cold, and Allergy Products
Taking linezolid with many cough, cold, and allergy products (including eye drops or nasal products) can increase your risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure. Most of these products should not be taken with linezolid. Always check with your healthcare provider before taking any cough, cold, or allergy products while you are taking this antibiotic.
