If you have asthma, your healthcare provider may recommend the ciclesonide inhaler. This inhaler is used twice a day, every day, and is part of a class of asthma medications known as inhaled corticosteroids, or simply steroids for short. It is approved only for the prevention (not treatment) of asthma attacks. Possible side effects include nose irritation, throat irritation, and headache.
What Is the Ciclesonide Inhaler?The ciclesonide inhaler (Alvesco®) is a prescription medication approved to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children age 12 and older.
Are There Side Effects?Just like any medicine, the ciclesonide inhaler can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses it will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
- Irritation of the nose and throat
- Upper respiratory tract infections (such as the common cold).
