Revatio Medication Information

Revatio® (sildenafil citrate) is available only by prescription and is approved for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Specifically, this drug is used to improve the ability to exercise and to slow down worsening conditions in people with PAH. Revatio is not a cure for this condition.

This medicine is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs up-to-date information on your medical history and what medications you are taking before prescribing Revatio. Although many people do not have any problems while taking Revatio, side effects can occur and may include headaches, indigestion, and abnormal vision. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.

Revatio comes in the form of a tablet or intravenous injection, and is taken three times daily. The injectable form is for people who are unable to take medications by mouth.
