Linezolid Drug Information

As a prescription antibiotic, linezolid (Zyvox®) is licensed to treat a variety of serious infections, including pneumonia and certain types of skin infections. It is approved for use in adults and children (even newborns), and is generally taken twice a day. This drug comes in many forms, including tablets, liquid suspension, and intravenous (IV) injection.
 
Although most people are able to take this medicine without any problems, linezolid is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment with this drug, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your health situation, including any other medications you are taking. Also, let your healthcare provider know about any other medical conditions you have, such as kidney disease, phenylketonuria, or any allergies.
