Ipratropium and Albuterol Solution Information

If you have emphysema or another form of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), your healthcare provider may recommend a drug called ipratropium and albuterol solution (DuoNeb®). Studies have compared this combination product to each of its two components in people with COPD. These studies showed that this medication improved lung function more than when either ipratropium or albuterol was used alone.

This product works by stimulating certain receptors on the smooth muscle of the airways, which helps keep them open. It comes in liquid form and is inhaled, using a nebulizer, four times a day.
