Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium XR (Augmentin XR®) is a prescription antibiotic that comes in the form of a tablet. It is approved to treat sinus infections and pneumonia caused by certain types of bacteria. In most cases, it is taken twice a day. Before taking this antibiotic, tell your healthcare provider if you have any allergies or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
