Albuterol Solution Information
Albuterol solution is a prescription drug used to treat airway spasms in people with asthma or certain other conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or emphysema.
The medication is usually taken three or four times daily using a nebulizer, a device that changes liquid medications into fine droplets that are inhaled into the lungs. Your specific dosage will be based on a number of factors, such as:
- The particular type of albuterol solution
- Your age
- The severity of your respiratory condition
- Your current medications.
Before beginning treatment with albuterol solution, information on potential risks should be fully reviewed with your healthcare provider. For example, this medicine has the potential to cause a number of side effects, such as shakiness and dizziness. In addition, tell your healthcare provider if you have any other medical conditions or are taking any other drugs, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
