Linezolid

Dosing Information

The dose of linezolid your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The type and severity of your infection
  • Your age
  • Your weight (for children).

As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Drug Interactions

Linezolid can potentially interact with several other medicines (see Drug Interactions With Linezolid for more information).

What If I Take an Overdose?

It is not clear what exactly to expect from an overdose of linezolid. If you happen to take too much, seek immediate medical attention.

(Click Zyvox Overdose for more information.)

How Should Linezolid Be Stored?

Store all forms of linezolid at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed to protect the medicine from moisture. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

As with all antibiotics, it is important to avoid missing doses. If you do miss a linezolid dose, simply take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Can I Buy Generic Linezolid?

Linezolid is currently not available in generic form (see Generic Zyvox for more information).
