Side Effects of Ipratropium and Albuterol Solution

Sore throat, chest pain, and diarrhea are among the most commonly reported side effects of ipratropium and albuterol solution. Although side effects are typically minor and easily treated, serious problems that require immediate medical attention are possible. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you experience such ipratropium and albuterol solution side effects as vision changes, an irregular heart rhythm, or worsening breathing problems.

 

Side Effects of Ipratropium and Albuterol Solution: An Introduction

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with ipratropium and albuterol solution (DuoNeb®). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Side Effects of Ipratropium and Albuterol Solution to Report

Some side effects with ipratropium and albuterol solution, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • A very fast heart rate (tachycardia)
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Anxiety
  • Worsening of diabetes
  • Worsening of breathing problems
  • Severe constipation
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Vision changes
  • Chest pain
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as an unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
