Indacaterol Maleate Dosage
With indacaterol maleate, the dosing guidelines are the same for everyone. For preventing airway spasms caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), put one capsule in the Neohaler, and then breathe in the powder using your own breath. It is important not to use more than one dose in a 24-hour period, as it may increase the risk for side effects.
An Introduction to Your Dosage of Indacaterol MaleateThere is only one standard dose of indacaterol maleate (Arcapta™), regardless of your age, weight, or other medical conditions. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
Dosing Guidelines for Indacaterol Maleate
The recommended indacaterol maleate dosage for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one 75-mcg capsule inhaled once a day. Although indacaterol maleate comes in capsule form, these capsules are never to be swallowed (they are not effective if swallowed). They are used in the indacaterol maleate Neohaler™. The Neohaler punctures the capsule, and then the powder is inhaled using your own breath.
Use only the Neohaler (not any other type of capsule inhaler) for indacaterol maleate capsules.
General Information on Using Indacaterol MaleateSome considerations to keep in mind during treatment with indacaterol maleate include the following:
- This medication is inhaled into the lungs once a day. It does not matter what time of day you use it, as long as it is at the same time each day. Make sure to separate each use by 24 hours; taking two doses within 24 hours increases the risk for side effects.
- It is important to learn exactly how to use your Neohaler. Make sure your healthcare provider shows you the steps needed to use the Neohaler.
- For indacaterol maleate to work properly, it must be used as prescribed.
- If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or indacaterol maleate dosing in general, please talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
