Drug Interactions With Dextromethorphan Polistirex

Linezolid
Linezolid is an antibiotic that also acts like a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Because dextromethorphan polistirex should not be taken within two weeks of an MAOI, it is important for people who take (or have recently taken) Linezolid to not use dextromethorphan polistirex.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
Combining dextromethorphan polistirex with antidepressants may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be very dangerous.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking dextromethorphan polistirex with MAOIs can increase your chance of developing life-threatening problems. Do not take dextromethorphan polistirex if you have taken an MAOI within the past two weeks.
 
Sibutramine
Combining dextromethorphan polistirex with a sibutramine can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see Precautions and Warnings With Dextromethorphan Polistirex), as it can be dangerous.
 
SSRI or SNRI Antidepressants
Taking dextromethorphan polistirex with SSRI or SNRI antidepressants can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these depression medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be dangerous.
