How Does Atrovent Inhalation Solution Work?

Atrovent inhalation solution belongs to a group of medications known as anticholinergics or antimuscarinics. It works by binding to specific receptors (called muscarinic receptors) in the airway, helping to relax the smooth muscle of the airway.

Atrovent inhalation solution is not approved for use in children under the age of 12 years old. Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about using Atrovent inhalation solution in children.
 

Off-Label Atrovent Inhalation Solution Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Atrovent inhalation solution for treating something other than COPD. Using Atrovent inhalation solution to treat asthma is considered an off-label use of the medication.
