Adcirca Uses

How Does Adcirca Work?

There are certain chemicals that help to widen or narrow blood vessels in the lungs. Certain other enzymes can break down these chemicals so that they stop working.

Adcirca blocks one of these enzymes, known as phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5). PDE5 helps break down one of the chemicals that causes the blood vessels to relax.

By blocking PDE5, Adcirca allows more of this particular chemical to be available. As a result, the blood vessels in the lungs stay relaxed and blood flows more easily through them.

Can Children Use Adcirca?

Adcirca is not approved for people younger than 18 years of age, as it has not been adequately studied in this age group.
