Precautions and Warnings With Aclidinium

Before prescribing aclidinium, your healthcare provider needs to know if you have any allergies or if you are pregnant or nursing. Other precautions for using aclidinium safely include warnings for people who have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, or bladder problems. Also, tell your doctor if your breathing problems become worse while using this inhaler.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using aclidinium bromide (Tudorza™ Pressair™) if you have:
 
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
 
You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
 

Specific Aclidinium Precautions and Warnings

Some warnings and precautions to be aware of prior to using this drug include the following:
 
  • Aclidinium is not a fast-acting asthma medication and cannot replace fast-acting rescue inhalers. Let your healthcare provider know if aclidinium is not adequately controlling your breathing problems.
 
  • In some cases, inhaled medications, including aclidinium, can make breathing problems worse. Let your healthcare provider know if your breathing problems become worse during treatment.
 
  • As an anticholinergic medication, aclidinium can worsen glaucoma, bladder problems, and prostate problems. Talk to your healthcare provider before using this medicine if you have any of these problems.
 
 
  • Aclidinium contains lactose. This could be a problem for people with severe milk protein allergies.
 
  • Aclidinium is a pregnancy Category C medication. This means that it may not be safe for use during pregnancy, although the full risks are currently unknown (see Tudorza and Pregnancy for more information).
 
  • It is unknown if aclidinium passes through breast milk. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding or plan to start, talk with your healthcare provider before using this product (see Tudorza and Breastfeeding for more information).
